James “Jim” Roger Seim Resident of Danville. James “Jim” Roger Seim passed away peacefully on March 26, 2010 in Alamo, California at the age of 65 after battling cancer for 2 years. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in Portland, Oregon. In 1966 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army Security Agency for 4 years and was based at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and Herzo Base in Herzogenaurach, Germany. In 1971 Jim joined the SFPD, serving as a loyal Police Officer for 38 years before retiring as a Sergeant in charge of the MUNI Response Team. Jim previously worked at Central, Southern, Park, Ingleside and Taraval stations. He also served as a Crime Scene Investigator, the management control unit and Internal Affairs. Jim earned his B.A. in Administration of Justice in 1981. In 1992, Jim graduated from California State University, Hayward, with a double Masters in Public Administration and Organizational Change. Jim’s hobbies included dancing, books, flying, and amateur radio operations (including Red Cross Emergency Communications). He was an active member of the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC). Jim is predeceased by his father Harvey Seim and brother Bill Seim. Jim is survived by the mother of his three children Linda Seim-Morris; daughter Laurie Verkest; sons Roger Seim and Marc Seim; grandson Austin Seim; mother Inez Seim; brothers Tom and Joel Seim; Tom’s wife Della; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 12 noon at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 2254 Market Street, San Francisco, California 94114. Interment to follow Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette, CA.
